Varieties of "puto" or flour steamed cake found in different places in Philippines. Each of them are having style to make and prepare. It can be made out of rice or all purpose flour. This is popular delicacy for snack of everyone or even can take as breakfast. This can also be a potluck and easy to bring for gatherings and outings. And also it can be served accompanying with savory foods like dinuguan and pancit and also for hot coffee or hot chocolate. Puto is traditionally snack that can be served in all occasions. It can be taken in the morning, midday or midnight. It is easy to prepare and heavy snack.

Try to cook my soft and fluffy puto in my own version

Here are ingredients and some steps on how to make soft and fluffy puto cheese.

3 cups all purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
2 tbps baking powder
1 can evaporated milk
fresh milk or water (to mix)
cheddar cheese strips (for toppings)


1. Mix all solid ingredients like all purpose flour, white sugar and baking powder. Mix it well with the mixer.
2. In separate bowl, all liquid ingredients mix together like butter, stirred egg, evaporated milk and fresh milk or water.
3. Combine all together and mix it well with the mixer until all items are dissolved.
4. Heat the steamer with water and keep it boiling.
5. Prepare the molder, grease with butter and fill half of it then put one by one in the steamer.
6. Keep the cover close after 5 minutes, put the cheese strips on each top for toppings.
7. Check once again until there is no coming up with the toothpick.
8. The soft and fluffy puto with cheese is cooked and ready to serve.
